سلام. از انگلیسی زبان ها پرسیدم جواب دادن:

"I have no idea what is meant there, but the usual two-line refrain is: Ours not to reason why. Ours but to do or die.

Perhaps the person was going to add that second sentence but decided against it or couldn't remember it, so ended with "um ... something or other."."

و جواب دیگری

After a bad or misunderstood order during the Crimean War, some 600 horsemen charged through enemy cannon fire. They could see that it would be disastrous, but it was not their job to question orders, it was their job just to do what they were told, and in this case many of them died. A noun such as 'job' and the verb 'was' are implied in the lines of poetry. Perhaps in your example, 'die' was not appropriate so the person didn't finish the other half of the quote. 'But' here means "only"."

 

بنابراین طرف یا جمله یادش رفته و یا نخواسته به خاطر بار منفی بگه  to do or die بخاطر همین گفته "um ... something or other." اون um... نشانه دودل بودن یا مطمین نبودنه

something or other به معنی "حالا هرچی".
