I'm not sure it's a routine, everyday usage for the verb "ask". Also, this movie is not long enough to realize if it's a funny show or not.
Actually, this is the matter of "double object verbs", like "send" and many other verbs.
من بسته را برای تو فرستادم
In these cases, we have two options. Initially, we can use some prepositions with respect to that verb. For instance:
I sent the package to you
Secondly, we can use the indirect/direct object structure:
I sent you the package

In the case of "ask", I didn't find any example in the texts to say:
I asked my question to my teacher!!!!!!!!
Instead, we can say in this way:
I asked my teacher about this question.
