Trip sb up

Question

I am currently watching a technical presentation on improving your interview skills etc where I just heard this from the speaker:

 

.. and as for the logical part we asks questions which are kind of silly and that's what trips up people sometimes! they are not expecting questions like ...

 

I kind of have a feeling that "Trip sb up"  means
