Thank you. This is what I found in the Cambridge dictionary:

So, maybe the Persian sentence "خیلی می خوامت" is more general than the English sentence "you are the object of my desire". The English sentence cannot always be used as an equivalent of "خیلی می خوامت".

Hi. The fact that desire means "sexual need" is right. Too, you're right that in translation, one meaning in source language can be broader or narrower than what we see in target language. BUT, "the object of one's desire" is a collocational phrase which is something like "giving one’s right arm", which itself means "to be willing to make a great sacrifice or to endure great pain or inconvenience; to trade something as irreplaceable as part of one’s body for an object of desire". I mean, the sexual meaning is far-fetched here.

In my humble opinion, "the object of one'd desire" mostly refers to an object. Otherwise, if it is used to talk about a person,
