Thank you everybody for your answers. But as you know, the Persian verse refers to a natural course of action; that is, when a new person or thing becomes available, the older ones lose favor. None of the answers given so far covers this concept.  I'm looking for an idiom, proverb, or any fixed expression to convey this concept in English.
