Would you give me an example for the usage of each of the two verbs 'splinter'&'shatter', dear Behrouz? I'm not sure if they collocate with human or feelings.

Shatter is used in this way, yet I don't think this is the case with splinter.

The nearest (though not exact) example , which led me also to use the verb splinter was / is the below one frm the Webster :

splinter into
The once-powerful communist party has splintered into hundreds of pieces.

For the verb shatter , I thank dear smsaleh for the examples given in his/her above view post.

Also I think since the Farsi question text is correctly worded with two relatively tough / strong verbs to highlight debth of the speaker's sad / offended feelings, maybe using even the verbs , which are of breaking or smashing connotations applicable to other than human subjects could in some ways be helpful to convey the severely offended feelings of the speaker as much as possible,in an exaggerated form.

However, above is jsut my view with no insistence on it.
