فرق contest و competition

سلام. دوستان فرق contest و competition چی هست؟ وقتی اسم یک برنامه مثلا هست: مسابقه شعر و ترانه، بهتر است از contest استفاده شود یا competition؟
مثلا بگیم

بله این تعریف رو قبل از جواب دادن خونده بودم 

 

همانطور که حتما میدونید دو کلمه "رقابت" و "مسابقه" در خیلی از کانتکست ها با هم مترادف هستن چه در فارسی چه در انگلیسی 

 

دلیل اینکه competition رو به معنای رقابت ترجمه کردم اینه که اگر به کلمات هم خانواده این کلمه و ریشه‌ی آنها دقت کنید تمامی معانی و کاربردهای آن واژه‌ ها، حول و حوش "رقابت کردن" متمرکز هستند.

 

در حوزه ورزش این دو کلمه را خیلی اوقات میشه به جای هم بکار برد :

 

رقابت های کشتی آزاد / مسابقات کشتی آزاد

رقابت های دو و میدانی / مسابقات دو و میدانی

و...

 

البته انگلیسی گسترده تر از فارسیه و کلمات دیگری برای مسابقه و فعالیت های ورزشی وجود داره مثل match و game که نباید آنها را از یاد برد.

 

 

"رقابت" معنای گسترده تری از "مسابقه" داره و  در خیلی از کانتکست ها فقط باید از کلمه "رقابت" استفاده کرد

نمیتونیم بگیم مسابقات تجاری / اقتصادی و..

 

در انگلیسی هم در اکثر موارد از competition برای بیان این رقابت ها استفاده میشه.

 

 

برای انتخاب کلمه مناسب در مباحث دیگر هم آیندهای (collocations) آن کلمات را باید بررسی کرد

مثل دو عبارت زیر که معمولا به همین شکل استفاده میشوند

a beauty contest

 

a photography competition

و در رابطه با این سوال، همانطور که BK عزیز هم گفتن contest استفاده میشه

من متوجه نشدم اینی که گفتید مخالف کدوم قسمت از حرفای منه؟!

همونطور که گفتم در مبحث ورزش خیلی اوقات میشه این دو کلمه را بجای هم بکار برد و دو کلمه دیگر هم گفتم که در فعالیت های ورزشی استفاده میشه

البته برای اشاره به یک مسابقه فوتبال بهتره از match استفاده بشه نه competition و contest (در دیکشنری هم آیندها آکسفورد یا در همان دیکشنری لانگمن کلمه فوتبال را جستجو کنید) 

"a football match" و "a football competition" و "a football contest" رو در گوگل هم جستجو کنید متوجه میشید که match چقدر در این مورد پرکاربرد تر است 

البته هر کسی ممکنه کلمه ای رو انتخاب کنه؛ بسته به دیدگاه و نظر افراد و همچنین منطقه و کشوری که زندگی میکنند این انتخاب ها میتونه متفاوت باشه چون این دو کلمه معنای نزدیکی بهم دارند و نمیشه گفت تنها این هم آیند درست است

ولی برای مسابقه فوتبال match صحیح و پرکابردترین است 

 

چیزی که شما گفتید به معنی "یک رقابت فوتبال" است نه یک مسابقه فوتبال

به تعریف زیر که برای جام جهانی آمده دقت کنید

من راجع به فوتبال حرف نردم؛ راجع به موزیک و انشا و ... حرف زدم. دقیقاً collocationهای لانگمن رو اینجا کپی کردم که خب از قضا، فوتبال هم جزوشون بود. شما راجع به کالوکیشن‌های مناسب برای همراهی شعر و موسیقی صحبت کردید؛ من هم اون‌ها رو اینجا آوردم.

مخالفتش از این لحاظ بود که می‌خواستم بگم که نمی‌شه گفت contest بهتره اینجا. هر دوشون استفاده می‌شن.

ضمناً به جای poem در اینجا، بهتره از poetry استفاده کنید (مسابقاتشون معمولاً اسمشون poetry هست تا poem. مسابقۀ ترانه هم «بهتره گفته بشه» که منظور، مسابقۀ  خواندن ترانه است، نوشتن آن است، ملودی برای آن است یا ....
