B: Really? How old are your brothers and sisters? (The listener thinks others are adults in the speaker's family)

Note: Although in some specific contexts they can be used interchangeably but people expect to hear 'an only child' rather than 'the only child.' Please consider this in your answer. Thanks.

Thank you just one more thing. Don't include 'in my family' at the end; it's redundant and also makes the sentence ambiguous and wrong (it's different from son, the child etc). If you look up at my first comment I didn't include 'I'm an only child in the family. I won't go to details here. I'll remove my comments shortly after. +1
