she used an ax to cut some wood for the fire

کلمه wood هم فرم قابل شمارش دارد هم غیر قابل شمارش ، اما در جمله بالا نباید جمع باشد؟

she was so hungry so she ate the entire bunch of grapes

چرا در جمله بالا a bunch of نیامده است ?

Wood as a count noun refers to the type of wood. Here wood is considered fuel so using the type of wood would be irrelevent. 

It's very similar to the word paper. Compare:

'We need some paper and glue.'

'I need two paper sheets to finish my work.'

The first sentence is about the material you need. The second one is more specific and talks about the quantity.

If you really need to use it plural, use 'pieces of wood' NOT woods.

2. 

Because you have already used an artile before bunch which is 'the' before 'entire.' You could've said 'an entire bunch of grapes' instead depending on the context.

Entire is an adjective so it'd make it easier for you if you replaced it with some other adjective. Let's say big :-)

The big bunch of grapes or a big bunch of grapes. 

See? Not very complicated after all huh?! ;-)

Hi,

At first we can say: This is just accepted like this.

But then if we go deep enough into the details,

Wood and Woods are not same generally

I can give some examples with similar words:

Drink some water/tea/coffee...

 

And your second question is just right.

It is used to emphasizing.

If you want to use the "a bunch of" you can replace it with "the entire bunch of".

she was so hungry so she ate a bunch of grapes
